Do you let your child go on spring break? Alone?
When I was a kid (aging myself now, LOL) on spring break all my freinds would head to Florida to party and drink and hang on the beach and do all the stuff that kids do.
Do you let your kids go on spring break and if so what are the stipulations, guidelines? I ask because all of the missing kids on CNN have prompted the conversation between my wife and myself. No way will we let her go alone. Its not that we don't trust her but its other people that I don't trust. We'll allow her to go on spring break but it will have to be with us. Last summer we went to Florida for a long weekend and took 2 of her freinds and they had a blast.
Thoughts?

what age? I don't think I'd let my kid go alone in high school. Probably in college, though.

High school no, College yes. Not letting her go based on a possible kidnapping is like not going to Kansas because of a possible tornado, yeah they happen but your odds are low.

Hate to break it to you guys, but by the time they are in college, they are old enough to go without your blessings.

When they are 18 I guess they can do whatever they wish just as long as they know I'm not funding it!

I was referring to kids that are still in High school.
Your posts just made me think how great it would be if they listened to their parents in college too

Yeah, keep dreaming...
Some of them don't even listen in high school.

College---yes. It's not my business what they do when over 18.
High school---only if a friend's parents will be there. I often let my children vacation with their friends' families.
I don't let the news bother me. 24/7 news coverage makes people think life is unrealisticly dangerous.

My son is grown, but I would never have allowed him to go to Spring Break without adult supervision alone while in high school. Do hotels actually allow under-aged kids to rent a room?
