Can you catch salmon near Allentown/Reading, PA? If not, where is the nearest spot to fish for salmon in relation to Lancaster?

There are some streams up near North East / Erie PA that has a population of fish, but the local residents owns most of the land surrounding those waterways and unless you have permission to fish there, or are able to get into one of the public areas - I don't know how you would be able to fish there.

No, in PA, only in the tributaries of Lake Erie.

Streams & Rivers:

The tribs of Lake Erie hold Steelhead - which is a rainbow trout.

The closest place to catch Salmon (Chinook or Coho) are the Lake Ontario tribs. The largest and most fished tribs are the Salmon River in Pulaski,NY and the Oswego River.

The fall runs should be starting any day/week now - depending on water flows and temps.

Also the the Finger lake tribs have runs of Atlantic Salmon - which are the smaller cousins of the Chinook & Coho).

Salmon are caught in the deep waters of Lake Ontario all summer long.
