The Golden Corral in Scranton has been closed up for a few years now, and I ate there once and was turned off by how dirty it seemed.

Just stumbled across this site and glad to see some Selinsgrove news. I've been really excited about Target coming to our area. I've been praying for a Best Buy and would be so happy if one would come. Anybody have any new news about other stores coming in? I've heard Giant is relocating down there as well. Another thing I'd kill for would be a Red Lobster which I've heard we will never get down here

On the subject of Golden Corral.......we had a house fire and the Red Cross paid for us to eat there for a week and it was one of the most dirty places I've ever dined at. I'm amazed they stayed open as long as they did as I had heard the dirty rumors long before that.

Rex's seemed overpriced and I wasn't too surprised to see it shut down as well. Once again we really need a Best Buy!

I was hoping for Wegmans and Costco. I heard a few days ago that Wegmans were interested but Giant somehow bumped them . REX sold nothing but mass-market crap you could buy almost anywhere. The only place I can think of that sells even crappier electronics is Wal-Mart. The only quality thing they sold were 'Acoustic Research' interconnects. When REX first opened, I made a prediction to several people with whom I worked with that they wouldn't last three years. At least Best Buy sells some good quality brands.

Golden Corral was a crusty place and their steak had the flavor of liver.

I saw this thread had been resurrected and was hoping for some news of what's going into the old Golden Corral location. I haven't heard anything but I PRAY it isn't another car dealership. I've heard there might be a Kohl's going into Monroe Marketplace, and a Home Depot, along with Target. I also heard a rumor (and hope it's only a rumor) that if the ground wasn't ready to start building by the end of November that Target was pulling out. Oh, I hope that's not true because it sure doesn't look ready to build yet.

I will be very upset if Target pulls out. That is very bad news and I hope they get things rolling so Target happens. And I agree there's enough car dealerships in the area And enough banks which seem to pop up way too often too!

I bought a cd burner unit at Rex's soon after it opened and it was one of the worst electonics I've ever owned. I also prodicted they wouldn't last long and was very underwhelmed with their products and prices.

Wegman's would have rocked. I'm very curious what else will be added as I didn't realize that there are spots for 15 or so businesses. Thought we'd get four or five things there so should be interesting to see what else is added in the next couple months to the plans!

We bought our TV from Rex and it's still going strong (knock wood!). But we were only in there that one time and didn't really look at anything else.

I know that Fashion Bug is going into Monroe Marketplace, but that will be one of the smaller stores. When they had their going out of business sale at the mall I asked if they were closing or moving and the sales girl told me their plan to relocate. I think most of the stores, except for four or so anchor stores, will be on the smaller side.

Red Robin Restaurant is also supposed to be coming. I've seen one in Hershey but never been inside. Anyone know if it compares to Applebee's or something else? I really miss Ruby Tuesday and hope Red Robin will be similar.

Red Robin does seem like an Applebee's to some extent but seems to have a different style of menu. I went to their website a few months ago when I heard they might be moving in and thought a lot of the meals looked pretty good Always nice to have new places to eat and hope it will be good. I was kind of bummed that the Charlie Brown's Steakhouse rumor fell through that was suppose to go next to sheetz at the old pizza place. Wonder if there are any new rumors of anything going in there?

Red Robin specializes in gourmet hamburgers. We have one in Wilkes-Barre, and it has proven itself to be quite popular. They're a bit on the pricey side (I believe their burgers are around $9), but damn are they ever good! They're more oriented towards children with their weird-looking red rooster mascot and birthday parties and stuff, but a fair number of middle-aged couples headed to the Penguins games, college students, etc. hit it up as well.
