I gotta admit I haven't been this excited ever for something opening in our area. I remember back in the day when we got the Wal Mart in Selinsgrove which was cool but this seems to blow it away on my anticipation scale. I remember being excited for the expansion of the movie theatres at the mall but then it took like 10 years for it to happen and I was away at college when they opened. I am so stoked at Target coming to our area Now we just need a Best Buy and Red Lobster.........

I totally agree, and we're doubly excited here at our house because my son will be 16 at the end of the year and he's hoping to get a job at one of the new stores in Monroe Marketplace, and hopefully at Target. He wants to save for a car.
Let me know if you hear anything about hiring, who's doing it, when, where, and how the process works. Thanks!

I'd contact Career Link on Bridge St.when the opening is nearer. They'll probably know something about when the stores will begin taking applications.

Rumors or may be already going in at the Monroe Marketplace:
-Lane Bryant
-Famous Shoes
-Red Robin
-Dress Barn
-Fashion Bug
I think most of these were already talked about earlier in the thread but was too lazy to go back and look

I've also heard rumors of Kohl's, Home Depot and Michael's Crafts going in there.
Then of course there's Giant, who's moving from their Shamokin Dam location. There was originally a rumor of a Super Wal-Mart but I guess that's not coming any more, correct?

Yep Giant and Target are the two that have been confirmed and already building. I had heard the rumors of a super Wal Mart but that was before Target happened. Michael's Crafts would do well with the Rag Shop going out of business. I wish we'd somehow get a Best Buy to go in there Should be interesting to see if anybody takes over the old Giant store.
Just curious.....they say they are planning on opening some things in the summer. Is that geared more towards June or later in the summer around August. If it's June there's only about five months to go.....woohoo!

I'm not sure if they mean June or August, but as far as Target - the sooner the better!!! We just had to run out to Target in State College to return some things. My teenage son went in with me, we walked up to the returns counter, the woman scanned our receipt and the items, printed a new receipt, told me what would be taken off the credit card bill and wishes us a nice day. We walked out of there and my son said, "That was the easiest experience I've ever had." Can't wait to get our own Target.

Ruby Tuesday's had four fires for a total of over $1 million in damages (the last one alone being about $700,000). All were determined to be arson and the company just decided to cut their losses and not return for the fifth time. Now our closest Ruby Tuesday is in Williamsport. I miss it!
