I live in Lewisburg and rumors have it that the old Bechtel's property is to be torn down (restaraunt and creamery building) and a 24 hour Riteaid pharmacy will go up in it's place.
I think this is the most stupid display of civic planning. There's an established CVS (24 hour) pharmacy right across the street of the proposed site! How many pharmacies do we need?

I've also heard the rumor of Kohl's, Home Depot, Target, and Giant being some of the "anchor" stores.
I have also heard a rumor of Williams-Sonoma being one of the other stores! That'll be great! The closest WS store is in the Shoppes at Susquehanna marketplace.
The developer of Monroe Marketplace is PREIT (same developer of the Susquehanna Valley Mall)
I hope this new developement won't be just a carbon copy of the SVM.

I was hoping the rumor of an Olive Garden coming to the old Bechtel's property was true, but then I heard that there aren't enough people in this area to support an Olive Garden. I beg to differ, but that's what their corporate offices decided. Dang! I certainly hope the pharmacy rumor isn't true.
Yes, PREIT is developing Monroe Marketplace and it won't be a copy of the mall. I do know Fashion Bug is going in, as I asked the sales clerk when they were having their huge sale just before leaving the mall where they were going and that's what she told me. I'm anxious to see what all is in the Marketplace, but so far I'm really enthused about the confirmed stores and the rumored ones.

I really hated to see the old cow statue at Bechtel's get taken away. That was an absolute landmark that I remember going back decades.

I totally agree. My oldest son grew up looking for the "silly cow" on the roof. Now it's gone.

I think these may be the stores
I have been following this thread for some time now and thought I should offer you guys this. I hope I am not spoiling it for anyone...
- 698,000 sf power center
- Turn-key: Dick's, Ross, Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Michaels, Petsmart, Fashion Bug, Famous Footware, Lane Bryant & Dress Barn
- Shell: Old Navy, Pennsylvanianera Bread, Starbucks, In-Line Retail Buildings.
I found this with an artist rendering of the center here (seems to be the architects site):
Create Architecture Planning & Design
I would love a Best buys . Just wish someone would build my Olive Garden.

A Williams-Sonoma won't be among those stores. We have a 60+ store "lifestyle center" here in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre with stores like Talbot's, New York & Company, J.Jill, Chico's, Ann Taylor Loft, etc., but when I personally sent an e-mail to both Crate & Barrel and Williams-Sonoma to inquire about employment opportunities at either company, I was told that they had "no future plans" to develop stores in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area. If an area as large as ours isn't getting one, I HIGHLY doubt an area as small as Selinsgrove/Lewisburg/Sunbury is getting one.
I'd suspect that the new shopping center will resemble the Arena Hub Plaza in Wilkes-Barre. Here are the tenants of that center and how they might relate to your upcoming center:
Avenue Shoes (unlikely candidate)
Barnes & Noble (might be subbed for a Borders in your area)
Bed, Bath & Beyond (likely candidate)
Best Buy (VERY likely candidate for your area)
Dick's Sporting Goods (likely candidate)
Lowe's Home Improvement (which you already have)
Michael's Arts & Crafts (likely candidate)
Old Navy (likely candidate)
Olive Garden (possible candidate)
PetSmart (likely candidate)
Pier 1 Imports (possible candidate)
Sleepy's (possible candidate)
Staples (which I think you already have)
TJ Maxx (likely candidate)
