I remember when my husband and I use to constantly trash the area and complain about it while we lived there...then we moved to Nashville, and very VERY (within 5 days) shortly found out that we took if for granted. Our car got snatched in 5 days. That would have never happened in Central Pennsylvania. I grew up in the Harrisburg/Hershey area and I love it. Central Dauphin School district is very good, and my husband grew up in Mechanicsburg, where the Mechanicsburg Area School district is very good. Taxes are 3% higher in Tennessee, so that 6% isn't too bad looking now. I've noticed that the cost of living really isn't that bad in Pennsylvania, and teh safety of the area shouldn't be taken for granted. We're trying to relocate back there within the next 2 years.
I think it's a very good area and I highly recommend it.
