What exactly are you looking for in an area? Just cheap real estate? Other than cheap real estate, what else are you looking for? Proximity to Pittsburgh and jobs? Good schools, activities??
Port Vue is alright - as in all areas, there are good parts and bad parts. As I've told others, the best thing to do is to go there. Walk around. Talk to the people who live there. Go to the local stores and talk with the clerks and other shoppers.
There are nice parts of Aliquippa, too. It just depends on the section.
Let us know what you're looking for in an area to move to, and we can help you more.

Ok, I read your previous post about your job in McKeesport, your children, etc.
Elizabeth is a nice small town, within a good commute of McKeesport. Same with Elizabeth Township. Across the river from Elizabeth, is West Elizabeth, another safe town, same with Elrama and Floreffe. Stay out of Clairton, Stay out of Duquesne, Stay out of McKeesport. You don't want your children going to those schools.
Will you be renting or buying?? I was in Elrama a few days ago, and spotted a nice house for sale by owner on Ramage Avenue for $55k. Ringgold is a fairly good school district. Not tops, but a heck of alot better than Clairton, etc. I lived in Elrama for 20 years, it's a clean small town, pretty safe. You can leave your car unlocked there, if that tells you anything. Unless you have a nice shiney brand new car with all kinds of shiney equipment just sitting on the front seat - that's just about asking to be robbed.... Both of my children were born in McKeesport Hospital, as was my grandson. It's about a 25 minute drive.
If you rent in West Elizabeth or Floreffe, or buy, your kids would go to Jefferson Hills School District - a good school district. About a 25 minute drive to McKeesport.
I hope this helps!

I just did a quick search for rentals in the area, within a reasonable drive of McKeesport, and spotted two homes in Rostraver zipcode 15012. One home is $550, the other $500. Both 3 bedrooms one with one bath, the other 1 1/2. Rostraver is a good area, with a good school district (Belle Vernon).

More or less I'm trying to purchase. Important factors are safety, schools and affordability. I'm trying to stay at or under 70 although I can go for a higher cost home. The 70ish price home would be affordable for me. I have two houses I am looking into right now besides the one in Port-Vue. The first one is in Ambridge and the other is in Rochester. Thanks again for all your help.

Ambridge is across the river from Aliquippa, and starting to go bad too. Rochester is down river, but farther North. It's actually at the Northern most point of the Ohio River. Rochester isn't a bad town, but it's way too far from McKeesport to commute to every day. There are only a few roads that will actually get you there. None of them are good. You really should be looking on the Eastern side of Pittsburgh. As nice as Beaver County is, you need to cross it off of your list.

Ok, McKees Rocks is much closer to Beaver County. Coraopolis, and Moon Township would be good places to start. They are still in Allegheny County. In Beaver County Hopewell would be the closest. Rochester, Freedom, Baden and Conway would be a doable drive too. See if you can get a moderator to move this thread to the Pittsburgh forum. You'll get more info.

My father worked in McKee's Rocks and lived in Beaver Falls. A bit of a drive, but probably under 1/2 hr each way. The upper Beaver Valley is nicer, IMO.
