I would like to invest in Pottstown near High Street and would like to know if it's a good area to make money? Is is safe or not? Also how diversified is it. I just moved out her from NYC and all I've been experiencing is RACISM. Everyone looks at immigrants as being aliens. People are so narrow minded. All people are creation of god, god didn't just create one race. Basically I would like to know if Pottstown accepts immigrants....

Just out of curiousity, what race are you? What kind of racism are you experiencing? I lived in pottstown for 8 years so I could probably give you some info about the area and my opinions about it. I would say pottstown is approx. 20-30% black 5-10% biracial 5% hispanic and the rest is white.

There are plenty of living opportunities within a 10 mile radius of Limerick. As other people have mentioned, this area has vastly become suburbanized over the past couple decades because of the construction of the 422 commutter corridor running from Philadelphia to Reading.
Pottstown, as others have also mentioned, has its downsides. I personally think it gets more of a bad rap than it deserves. Many areas have begun to clean up their act, and if you look at their recently-constructed Middle School, for example, it would not exactly be like you're sending you're kids to inner-city schools. Nevertheless, Gilbertsville, Royersford, Coventry Township, New Hanover Township, and Pottsgrove are all very suitable locations with more reputable school districts. |

Boyertown SD and Spring-Ford SD are certainly on par with one another. What makes you believe otherwise?

My husband and son are looking for a short term efficiency rental or a furnished one bedroom type thing to live in while we are waiting for our house to sell in NH. Does anyone know of anything in the Springford area where we could rent even a room or something until the rest of the family moves down there and we can buy a home? I appreciate any help or ideas. Thanks.

If you look at the crime stats for states PA falls about in the middle. I believe the ranking is 22 or 23. Pottstown also falls in the middle for crime stats compared to other PA cities of the same size.

First...Oliver Stone attended the Hill School. It is a school that is entrenched in tradition and many famous people have attended or sent their children.
I would also look at the Green Lane, Schwenksville and Perkiomenvill areas. They are very rural and on a clear day you can see the steam clouds at the plant. The area is loaded with parks and recreation. Check out this site. It is a great trail system. http://www.montcopa.org/parks/perkio.../Perkiomen.htm All the best, Will |

Boyertown is the best area around for raising children. My husband and I have 4 children - our oldest son is a jr in high school, our oldest daughter is a 7th grader at Junior High, our youngest son is in 4th grade and our baby is in Kindergarten. I grew up in Pottstown/Pottsgrove and I moved to Boyertown - where my husband grew up - to raise the kids. The schools are EXCELLENT, our car insurance and utilities are SOOOOO much cheaper in Berks County. Boyertown is the cleanest, safest area around. The community really supports the kids and the school - it is a big small town and you do have some of the old time attitudes - but they are really changing. There is so much to do in the area.
Montgomery County is very expensive - the insurance rates and utilities are crazy! I love Boyertown and so do my children - my oldest son already talks about wanting his children to live here too. |
