The Farnsworth House is still full of bullet marks.

The barn you mentioned is on the NW side of town where the first day's battle took place. I'm not exactly sure which barn it was, but I remember seeing the story. It could have been McPherson's barn but I'm not sure. It may not even exist any longer.

They're doing a lot of work in the area you mentioned. The Peach Orchard has been replanted to the original size during the battle and they have been clearing a lot of trees in the Slaughter Pen area.
Ah I love history. Most of the original houses in the battlefield area still have bullet holes.

Default Hbg museum

I teach the Civil War. At the last visit to the Hbg.museum it was decided not to go there again, just G Burg. If people have to make a choice, I recommend GBurg and walking tours. I do disagree that the tour guides at GBurg have changed their tunes lately. They are still giving the students balanced observations about the war, and discuss more than just the war and slavery. As a Civil War aficianado, I think GBurg is doing it right, but the new museum will be interesting to see and what impact it makes.

Best tour I ever took at gettysburg was when the war college at carlisle has a day trip down there. I was there on my own and just joined the crowd about 50 colonels with their teacher. Wow what a great tour they cut the what is a musket and how does a cannon newbie stuff and got right down to the tactics with even who the officers who defended and attacked where everything was etc. Down to the amount of soldiers lost and where they kept the prisoners it was the best. They gave the history of the commanders down to the captain level experience why they choose their areas for defense or attack.
