How clean and roach/rodent "proof" are the apartments in the Philly burbs (Chester: to rent)

for the studio/1 bedroom apartments in the $650 - $800/month range in the Chester, Delaware, or Montgomery county area? Wondering how the condition of the apartments are in these areas.

Are there any telltale signs to seek when checking out an apartment?

Has anyone had any "bad" experiences with this and can share their story and what to do in the future?

i would suggest that you visit the apartment 2 times before you decide to rent there once in daylight and another time in the evening when people come in from work.
I had an indian family move in next to me and the cooking seeped through the walls with an extremely heavy odor which literally made me sick to my stomach. Not too long after that I became infested with roaches between the roaches and the smells I was outta there real fast.
