Default Williamsport School District

This one goes out to the teachers and parents in the Williamsport Area School District.

It looks like they're falling well behind on the PA state reqirements. As someone considering moving to Williamsport from a big city, I can handle the level of crime, as it's much lower than I've been living with. Questionable schools are a killer, tho. If Williamsport wants to attract businesses and build a tax base inside the city, good schools are a must. I want to see Williamsport continue to develop, and this tops the list of my concerns.

In the interest of confirming or dispelling a bad reputation... is there a consensus that there is/is not a problem in Williamsport? What direction are the schools moving in? Is it unlikely/possible/probable/definite your child will get a good education in Williamsport public schools? A little first hand knowledge about what's going on there right now would be great. Thanks!

PS - I grew up in Muncy.
