Post Relocated to PA / NJ soon, need help picking a city to live?

I am being transferred soon to the East Coast. I would be working in Morris Plains, NJ and would like to live in Eastern PA. My main focus is a very low crime city for my wife and small children to feel safe as I travel alot. I saw that Emmaus, PA was on the best cities list, which would be an hour away. Are there any other cities near that area you would suggest I look at? My ideal home price would be roughly 245K - 415K so I would like moderately upscale. Any help would be appreciated!

Default Forks

There is an area of Easton called Forks. There are some nice developments there with great families and kids.
One of the communities has a golf course in the middle, and gorgeous homes surrounding it. This area is up above College Hill, and Lafayette College.
If those homes are too costly. The area off of Richmond Ave to Thomas Ave has some nice homes from 300 on upwards to 500.
Being there would give you easy access to route 78 and your trip to Morris Plains. Many people from that area travel to Morristown and thereabout to work. It is approx. one hour 15 min. or so........
From this area you can shop in all the local Malls and stores that are all within 5 min. to 20 min. in different directions.
Plus a nearby Giant is handy, some restaurants, and stores for everyday needs.

Emmaus is a great town, it's just over the mountain from where I live. However, one hour would be optimistic - it's 71 miles between Emmaus and South Plains. Most of the towns surrounding Allentown and Bethlehem don't really have crime problems. Money Magazine doesn't look at towns with under 7500 so most of the smaller towns weren't in the running.

What are you looking for in a town?

I agree with toobusytoday. If you go to far west like Emmaus, your looking about 1 1/2 hour commute each way. Summering is right, you may want to look in Forks Twp or maybe Williams Twp which is just over the NJ/PA toll on I-78 and that would probably reduce your trip to about an hour.
