I always liked the Herr's brand, but they got rid of the Worchester sauce chips. They now have this kansas city steakhouse flavor that tastes like burned gristle.

A lot of people on this board previously talked up the Middleswarth brand. With great expectation I tried them and was disappointed.

I used to agree with you ... up until two years ago when the Troyers sold the company. It really does suck; that was some good stuff, and most of their potatoes were grown nearby.

Even the cheese curls -- an anti-food if there ever was one! -- were delicious.

Yes, but I don't think they have the big cans anymore.

PA Dutch and Amish are different types of people. Utz are the most popular chips on the east coast.

Good's are the best, cooked in glorious lard(which some new studies suggest is healthier than vegetable oil).
It's a shame they gave up the can for a box.

Speaking of cans is Charlie Chips still around?

We used to get Charles Chips when we lived in Chester county. My daughter liked them so much a friend gave her a can of chips as a birthday present one year! Found this - Charles Chips Enterprises, Inc. not quite the same

Growing up in PA, my family actually bought Lay's. After I moved away, I switched to Utz- cheaper and better than the national brand.

Herr's is actually more regional than Utz- I don't see them at grocery stores in VA. I think Wawas around here carry them though.

Good's (pronounced Guut's, the Dutchie way) fried in lard. Ach, Guut's is so GUUT! With ring balooney and ret beet ecks!

The chips gotta be fried in lard, or they are not worth the indulgence.
