I haven't seen Gibbles in years. I could eat a bag of the "Red Hots' they used to make. Someone told me that Martins bought them out.

Martin's Potato Rolls, not Martin's potato chips.

My parents seek out Gibbles chips when we're having company. My mother's extremely picky, but she loves these chips.

I tried some old fashioned Dieffensbach chips( cooked in lard) since I've been testing some other brands. Its a good chip, very crunchy but not quite salty enough for me.
I might try some vegetable oil chips just to see how they compare.

I found Middleswarth chips, both Barbeque and Regular -- in the Redner's Warehouse Market in Phoenixville today. That is the closest to Philadelphia I've ever seem them being sold in a grocery store.

They still make Gibble's red hot potato chips (you can buy them at Weis, at least in the Harrisburg area). Among the "red hot" category, I think I'd rank them first, ahead of Martin's, Herr's, and Utz (in that order, and with a moderate gap between Martin's and Herr's).

I don't think I've ever had Bickels, Hartley's, or Snyder (of Berlin) red hot chips (actually, I'm not sure if any of them make red hot chips). I know Middleswarth does not.

I love that PA brand called Herr's. They've got many diff flavored brands, but I especially like the steak-flavored kind and the ketchup-flavored kind. Ketchup sounds nasty and it didn't sound at all good, but they ARE. Mmm.

And yeah... you would kinda think that Idaho would be all about potato chips. lol
