Relocating to Lancaster Co ?
Strasburg, PA - 7 "backroad, no traffic" miles from Lancaster City's plentiful job market is a very quaint Borough that is virtually crime free and has wonderful schools.
I have a 3BR / 2 1/2 Bath "High Style" Victorian in the heart of the Historic District that has been completely restored w/ ALL NEW gourmet Kitchen and designer tile baths. ABSOLUTE MOVE-IN CONDITION
For info & Photo Gallery go to: For Sale By Owner, homes for sale, houses, real estate, for sale
In the "Buy A House" section, type in the Listing ID: 20951438
click the button next to the Listing ID Dialog Box or hit your "ENTER" key
For additional info, I can be contacted thru the website

We have family in Lititz, they moved fromNJ and they absolutely love it. Nice little postcard town, quiet. They go to a Christian school but I think the schools in the area are generally good. It's much more reasonable than where we are in NJ. I think 200K would get you a nice sized house.
good luck/!

There are many good school districts in the Lancaster county area. Warwick School district, Manheim township, Hempfield, -- many of them rank the highest in the state for SAT scores and PSSA (the state assessment tests). Those areas I mentioned are all fairly centrally located and close to major roads, all amenities, etc. You can find school reports on my website, if it's any help.

Hello
If you go to (Google) York Realtors Association (Rayac) on-line you will find all sorts of data that should help answer your questions in terms of schools and other demographical information. If you have any further questions don't hesitate to ask....

It would be good to know where you are relocating from as that can also make a big difference on different level for your family and their adjustment.
Anyhoo, having lived in Lancaster for many years, and actually I was way down in southern lancasater county, I liked it. You've got fresh farmy kind of air (takes a lil getting used to LOL) and lots of green land. The further away from Lancaster city you are, the better it will be for you and your children. I lived in the country and I lived in the city and it's not a pleasant place in most of the areas. That is just my honest opinion from having experienced living there for three years (city). I lived longer in the country.
If you are from down south you are going to have a bit of a culture shock. The people here in PA are a lil different than the ones you find in the south. People here tend to be very hurried and brash (not all but a lot of them), getting around is more difficult than down south, it's more expensive here, etc...
I would guess it would be more of a shock if you left a small southern town (for example) and then moved to Philly or NYC.
As it is, Lancaster is still very much farm land, more friendly people, it's a very "religious" area full of Amish and Mennonites. I would say it's a decent place to raise kids but again, depending on where you are moving from, the schools in PA demand a lot and if you are from down south somewhere, you may find that our schools here are ahead of the curve. I know a lot of transplants who came from down south with their kids and then the kids had a hard time adjusting to the new schools.
Again, this is really depends on where you are coming from. The areas I'd suggest if your hubby is working in Lancaster would be; New Providence, Quarryville, Lititz, Manheim, Willow Street, Strasburg. Good luck with the move!
