Question Potential Move to Lebanon, PA

I was just offered a position at the VA in Lebanon. I am single and would be renting. I have a small dog and I prefer a garage. I do not want a long commute to work because of the weather in the winter but I want to live in a decent area that has a fitness center/gym close by.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

The (small) City of Lebanon has unusually pervasive crime and poverty issues for a community of its size, although the south side (closer to the VA) is a little better than the north side.

Working your way out towards Lancaster in your apartment search might be better, looking in local newspapers ( Home - Lebanon Daily News and Kapp Advertising - Lebanon, Myerstown, Hershey and Dauphin-Schuylkill Area Merchandiser ) as well as craigslist.

Lebanon County areas to the south and west of the City (Cornwall, Mt Gretna, Annville, Palmyra), closer to employment sites in Lancaster and Hershey are home to more relocatees than areas to the north and east (Fredericksburg, Myerstown, etc.) that are typified by multi-generational locals until you get to the nicer Reading suburbs (Wyomissing, West Reading).

US 422 is slow slow slow going. US 322 is a little better especially since you will be to some extent going opposite the normal flow of daytime traffic.

Great I will check those areas out! I am not thrilled with the move but the job is too good to turn down especially in this ecomony.
Thank you!
