It's unfortunate, but the economy of the late '90s is probably not going to return.
Yeah well being the county seat, Greensburg is always gonna be the hub for entertainment, nightlife, food, etc. I doubt if it'll ever go downhill like McKeesport or Brownsville. The factors that led to the decline of both of those towns were far different than anything that's faced Greensburg in recent memory.

If the economy in western Pennsylvania has changed since the late 90's, it's a negligible difference. That whole region has pretty much maintained itself throughout whatever the hell "this" is gonna wind up being (depression? Cause it's sure worse than a recession). I attribute my gripes about Greensburg today to a mere lack of vision / ever-present brain drain in the area. If you're new to the area, or you're younger than I am, you're obviously not gonna feel the same kind of disappointment. It really used to be a much more happening place though.

I'm not that old by the way...Only 33.

I think the old descriptions were better. Rather than crisis and recession they had panics and depressions

I think even among other county seats, Greensburg compares favorably. New Castle, Somerset, Butler, Beaver, Washington PA, Uniontown, Kittanning, etc. all seem to have less going for them than Greensburg.

I agree on everything except for Beaver. Beaver rocks.
