Personally I am partial to Punxy....but yeah...none of these are really cities in the 'city sense' of the word.....St. Marys can 'call' itself a city if it wants to, but that is about as close as it gets. They are all nice places to live IF you have job that is steady and pays more then minimum wage and you are looking for a quiet life that culturally revolves around Remington and Winchester. If you live in one of those places you are pretty much interconnected with all of them if you have kids and they do sports.
DuBois has quite a bad heroin problem though because it is in the middle of a drug transportation crossroad....and it has been slowly making its way down to Big Run and Sykesville...but I haven't heard of too many problems with it in Punxy. I try every year to make it back for the 'Home for the Holidays' parade in Punxy....lots of nice antique tractors covered with christmas lights and buck antlers and they always have a kickass fireworks display.

Acctually, St. Mary's has a big heroin problem. DuBois has a big meth problem. Other than that... Punxy was a pretty nice town before the railroad left and WalMart took over, since then though....

The meth problem in DuBois is only masking the ongoing heroin problem. But I guess it is sort of a moot point cause there is meth all over the place these days.
Yeah Walmart took a toll all right.....and I still am not sure about what I think about the drugstore moving from the plaza to where the hardware store was. There are some interesting little shops opening though last I saw....it actually looked better then it has in awhile.

St. Marys is the wealthiest and most prosperous of the towns on this list. I say this because the median income in St. Marys is vastly higher than in any of the other surrounding towns. In fact, according to city-data.com, the income in Dubois is roughly $28,600, while St. Marys is $42,900. Housing is reasonable, but for north western Pa, it is quite expensive. In the future, tourism will be feeding any of the growth in these towns. St. Marys may benefit the most due to its proximity to the Pennsylvania Elk Herd and its religious and industrial history. Dubois has the benefit of Interstate 80 and a larger hospital, and Punxy has Punxy Phil.

It's sad how small towns have huge drug problems.
America certainly has changed over the past decades because of illegal drugs.

Outdoor lovers choose Kane
If you love the outdoors, then Kane should be at the top of your list. Located on the edge of the Allegheny National Forest, it's a short drive away from boating, swimming, fishing, camping, hiking, picknicking, ATV/motorcyle and snowmobile trails, and some of the best hunting around.
Many of Kane's streets are lined with sugar maples and black cherry trees, which explode with color in the fall. You will not find more vivid fall foliage anywhere; the colors rival those of New England and the Great Smoky Mountains. Even the cemeteries just outside of town put on a beautiful show.
Readers Digest and National Geographic magazines both named Route 6, which passes through Kane, one of the most scenic drives in America. Go for a drive down the Longhouse Scenic Byway. Check out Jake's Rocks, Rimrock, Tidioute Overlook, and the Kinzua Dam. I saw a fox while hiking at Rimrock and have seen countless deer and even a few black bear while simply driving down the road.
Check it out yourself.
