Waymart is quiet, serene, and largely agricultural. It's located in Wayne County, about a half-hour from Scranton's conveniences and about ten minutes from Victorian Honesdale. Only consider a move here if you're interested in acquiring a larger property---I can't even think of one housing development in the Waymart area, and the "in-town" listings are often scarce and few and far between. Basically, you'd be looking at middle-aged ranches and/or modular homes set back a distance from two-lane country roads with an acre or more of land.
Waymart is nice in that it's close enough to the city for shopping, dining, nightlife, etc., yet still far enough away to escape urban sprawl and its accompanying "cookie-cutter" development. Crime here is non-existent---However, be advised that state troopers are now being stationed in Western Wayne High School to deter racial tensions among students (This may be an indicator of the racist culture of the parents as well, so I just thought I'd throw this out there in case you happen to be a minority). Overall, Wayne County is a great place to live---It's just a lot further from Scranton than the Abingtons, where you were originially looking. ;o)
