You are asking a complicated question. Your eligibility for PA Unemployment Benefits is determined by a formula that calculates how many weeks you were employed over the past year or so.

Have you applied for Unemployment Benefits yet? If not, do so at once. Don't worry: they will tell you if you are entitled or not. You apply online. You may think you are not eligible, but in fact you might be.

This much I do know - if you only worked from April 18, 2011 through Oct. 2, 2011 - and did not work for the previous 6 months, you are probably NOT eligible. If that is the case you worked for less than 6 full months during the past year ... and that is not enough to meet eligibility requirements.

Fortunately, the answer is easy to figure out. Start here:

UC Eligibility

And I agree, the easiest way to find out if you're eligible is to apply. Believe me, if you aren't, they'll be in a big hurry to let you know.

The answer is no. Unemployment goes back 18 months and takes the first 12 of those 18 months. The current base year is 7/1/10 to 6/30/11. In that base year there are a couple of things you need to qualify for UC. 1. You needed to at least worked a minimum of 16 weeks in which you earned at least $50. These are known as credit weeks. 16 & 17 credit weeks will get you 13 weeks of state benefits. 18 will get you the full 26 weeks. Pull out the calendar & count the total number of weeks you have worked IN THE BASE YEAR. I count only 10. In order to qualify for UC you needed to have worked at least 6 months in the base year to qualify.

Every quarter the base year changes. Next quarter change is Jan 1, 2012. The base year will then be from 10/1/10 thru Sept 30, 2011. At that point you have a good chance of qualifying. So if you are still unemployed by then call UC then to re-apply.
