Having the qualifications is important which is why so many are here from Colorado, Texas and so on that have drilling experience.

Best thing to do is find lists of what companies are involved and ask them what jobs are available. Most but not all of the Marcellus shale drilling is north of I-80.

There are quite a few Marcellus shale websites that have popped up, I would do a google search. I know some of them have had jobs posted, but as I am not looking for a job in the industry I have not paid much attention.

Although the actual drilling/trucking jobs are spread all over, mostly from the SW to the NE of PA, most oil companies have set up regional offices in Pittsburgh I noticed.

In the woods, unless you are in a field.

Go to Williamsport, PA. The town has been OVER RUN by gas/drilling workers. It is boosting the local economy so greatly that new businesses are opening up, and old restaurants that have closed their doors, are literally bought overnight and converted to housing for employees from out of state. (The Bonanza in Williamsport, specifically)
I do wonder if the local government in that area has thought about what is going to happen when the gas companies leave (because they will eventually)...
Anyway, there are "local" offices "headquartered" in Williamsport, and the drilling is going on as close as Hughesville, up 118, and in the northern tier as well.

In western pa I've noticed the most activity in Fayette and Washington counties. Most companies have their offices around canonsburg and drill in a lot of small communities, like eighty-four, belle Vernon, the perryopolis area, etc.

I see that this was posted several months ago. Are you still looking for an oil and gas related job?
