Only when they are in PA and think the rules of the road don't apply here. But, I've seen people from PA do the same thing in Maryland.

By in large however, I've noticed people with MD plates drive much more rudely, out of control and do not understand the keep right, pass left rule.

When they move here for the purpose of paying lower taxes. It causes everyone's taxes to go up to cover the cost of the schooling for example. Biglerville is going to have to raise their taxes if the development there is filled by commuters.

Also, Marylanders want massive yards which eat up farmland. Sorry, but we don't want to be like maryland. I like being able to drive down a road without any traffic lights. I don't want to deal with excessive traffic.

It just seems greedy and they don't realize the negative effect they have moving here while commuting.

And also horrible driving, although so do some PA people. I pace marylanders/NJ people when they are in left lane and a commonly used off ramp is coming up. Mabye they will learn how to exit from the right lane like other corteous drivers.

Who the heck comes to PA to pay lower taxes? It's just the opposite - taxes are higher here in PA then in MD. Most people move to PA to get more house/land for their money. Last time I checked, this was America and people are free to move wherever they'd like for whatever reason. I understand that you want things to remain as they were, however PA's government decided they could use Marylanders' money. Sorry if you don't like it - blame your government. Don't take it out on the Marylanders!

I don't know who's fault it is, but I am feeling for SE Pa in those areas. I drove back from Baltimore from a interview, and use to live in Philly and would take drives south of Gettysburg. It is an urban sprawl nightmare. Who are these people who need to live in two car garage housing plans and commute two hours everyday each way from work. Is there any intelligence there? What a life to live, just to tell the secretary at work, "I own a acre of land in a subdivision on an old farm in Pennsylvania."

Well if you know anything about traffic in DC/MD, you could spend two hours sitting in traffic just to go 30 miles from your job so, why not spend two hours going to a house that you like. It may not be for you, but why are you wasting your time downing others for how they choose to live their lives. That makes no sense to me.

RowJimmy...your comment is exactly why when I get to work, I tell my secretary, "I made the BIGGEST mistake of my life moving to PA. The people there hate me because I chose to buy a house on land that a farmer decided to sell to a developer. I can't wait until my house sells so that I don't have to live around such close-minded people. They can be rid of me and I can be rid of them!"

Signed,
One Less Marylander You Have to Worry About

Many people in most parts of PA are slow-moving and timid drivers; this is why drivers from places like MD seem rude to them.

If I lived in rural PA, I would see no problem with educated people moving into my community. It's funny how the masses are never happy. No one's happy when they live in an area with no jobs and no future, then the area suburbanizes, and no one's happy because there's more traffic.

You don't get it. The people that have lived there are content with their jobs. Biglerville for example. Small town, 2 traffic lights and just over 1000 people. Then some developer decided he wants to take a nice 200-300 acre farm and make it into houses, so now the brand new school is going to have to get an expansion to accomodate (Property taxes only covers 3/8 of the education costs so that's gonna have to go up). Don't make some accusation that people in rural areas are unhappy, and I think you'd find the opposite especially in comparison to cities, having lived in rural, rurban and city/suburban.

The reason the people live in rural PA is because they like it. Do you honestly think people wouldn't live there if the hated it? Seriously, use some common sense on that one. Who cares if an area has a "future"? What makes you happy is what's important, and these people like rural, then people decide to shaft the locals by only thinking of themselves.
