Of course.
I think some people (rendell?) want to increase income tax and get rid of property tax. Basicly make the state an anti-renting, pro-elderly state based on who would gain (elderly don't pay income taxes and with no property tax would flock here in even larger numbers than they do currently) and lose (renters since the property tax would most likely be added into their rents and then an added income tax to boot). Would probably cause even more sprawl since it would just be more economical to buy a house then.

Yes, we have income tax here - the PA State Income Tax is 3.07% for 2007 according to the PA Dept of Revenue website.

Also, be prepared for a local income tax. We had never seen that anywhere else we've lived.

Most local taxes (if there is one where you choose to live) are around 1%, except Philadephia (around 4%) and Pittsburgh, and other places, too.
This website should help you. Not that I'm in support of these goofy local taxes, but be aware that the state rate plus the local rate is often significantly lower than rates in other states.

I started working in 1980, just out of high school, and the state income tax then was 2.2%. I think it's amazing that it's gone up less than 1% in 27 years! Some states have no state income tax, but many others pay much more than we do here in PA.

I have no lcal tax where I live in Lake Ariel.
Most are 1% but Scranton is 3.4%, a big reason why many don't want to live there.

No tax on clothes or food, but there is tax on prepared foods (fast food, etc.).
6% rate in PA, 7% in Philadelphia and Allegheny (Pittsburgh) Counties.
