This is the single most ridiculous thing I've ever read or heard in my entire life.
Agreed. Far fetched and outlandish are the words that come to mind for me.
I also want to add, I don't see where the media skewed Santorum's views after Iowa. He's been front and center in what, three or four televised national debates, and he clearly states his opinions and policy positions. And if anything, IMO he tones them down so as not to be alarmist and scare away the masses when he's on national television. In private he advocates for formally legislating a lot more morality type things than he does in the very public debates. I've read -- from right-leaning 'analysts' -- than his end game is contributions with this. He says the right things to the right demographic and the money starts flowing in, think of the people who send money to the various televangelists, and you have some some of Santorum's core followers, and contributor$.
One of the aims of the leftists is to eliminate the family unit, because without the family unit, the state raises and educates the children in it's own image and most everyone ends up dependent on the government for handouts to exist, thereby guaranteeing power to the totalitarians in charge.
This almost knocked me off my chair...can't believe I'm reading this.
The media worked after Iowa to skew Santorum as though he wanted some totalitarian Catholic state and instead once you wade past the media tripe and the old trick of frankenbited comments, he's not advocated anything of the sort. The market will still be flooded with condoms and people will be able to partake of whatever sexual gymnastics they want in their own bedroom.

People think it will never happen to them, but it happened in plenty of other countries such as North Korea, where the state works to pulverize any respect of life and the family unit and you can see what an abject failure and hell on earth that country is. And based on interviews with North Korean defectors, nearly every male does a 10 year stint in the military. Homosexuality is common amongst soldiers to a rate of about 50% as the military forbids contact with women or supports families and baring that rape of local women is common. Afghanistan is another hell hole of a country that embarked on a destruction of the family unit in the 1970's and it's where women are treated worse than wild animals and men view boys as being for pleasure and women merely as packhorses for babies.
So to me if you examine the historical and current evidence around the world, there is nothing wrong with promoting and supporting the family unit which provides a social structure of support and socialization with other people. The people smearing Santorum for supporting family values need to have a look around the world where the opposite is true and see what horrifying places to live those countries are.
Yep, thats what this country needs, someone with a tight sweater vest telling us how we should live based upon his and a small group of ill read bible thumpers believe Meanwhile most of the country does not realize that we in Pa ran his butt out in a landslide. So what does he do? He runs to the very same people who are destroying this country.....the lobbyists!
At this point in time it is kind of hard to see who he working for, but it is someone that eventually he will have to pay back with his soul

I know, denial about the real world is a tough thing for a lot of people. They always want to believe the barbarians are not going to come for them, but they did in ancient Rome and Greece and it did in recent times during WW2 and the rise in the 20th century of Marxist regimes.
It's happened in China during Mao's Cultural Revolution, it's going on right now in North Korea and it happened in the USSR.
I think people need to be better informed about world history and how totalitarian regimes come into existence. It's happening here in this country trickle by trickle, with the bureaucrats imposing tens of thousands of regulations a year, congress trying to pass laws like SOPA and PIPA, obama running roughshod over the Constitution, etc.
Freedom trickles away slowly at times and then one day you wake up to realize there is nothing left you can do.

He merely believes in family values and it appears some of a leftist bent disagree. I think it's the leftists trying to impose their ways on us, not the other way around.

I think that both are, but he (santorum) is pushing a strictly christian view, which many people are not too happy with. But you cannot deny his affliations with the lobbyist with would make many thinking folks raise an eyebrow or two

We all believe in strong, healthy families. Some of us are just a bit more inclusive with the idea.

Although I'm convinced you filter your thinking through a tinfoil hat, there's a grain of truth in this post. That being said, liberalization on the social issues is not a threat to Americans' liberties. It's actually an expansion of them.

Everyone is always "pushing a view". The leftists, abortionists and gay community do the same thing.
Someone being a christian and having a family and being vocal about that is being made out as a bad thing. So I guess the inverse, people would rather him push an immoral and anti family agenda? Makes no sense.

Let me draw a paralell from history
Back around 1840, there lived a French statesman named Frederic Bastiat; this was severall decades after the blodbaths of the Revolution, the Terror, and the Napoleanic wars. After several attempts that bogged down due to the usual problem of the more-simplistic expecting too much, France had established the workings of a demcracy, albeit limited, evolving toward the role of a mature, industrializing economy. It was around this time that Bastiat made the observation;
The State (meaning all government) is the Great Fiction, by which everyone ties to have his way, at the expense of everyone else.
And that pretty much summarizes the ideological divide which exits to this day, and likely will centuries after we're all gone. While societies like India, Russia, Mexico, Brazil and, to a lesser degree, China, are becomong more open (and growing rapidly as both capital and ideas are more freely exchanged), the United States and parts of Europe are becoming less flexible, due mostly to the power-grab by a number of specific interest geoups, usually under the Banner of Poliical Correctness.
That is the crux of our dilemna today. You can't have security without sacrificing individual freedoms, but there are plenty of people out there dumb enough to believe that theay can interdfere with other peoples' rights without losing their own.
