It appears that the Paterno family just committed highway robbery of Penn State students and PA taxpayers with their lavish payments they're getting from the university. They already have millions, but they're getting more? Yet they'll keep raising students' tuition.... I think PA taxpayers should should stop funding PSU if this is how they're going to spend their money. Put the endowments the state gives to PSU toward the state system universities instead.

Uh, that money comes out of the athletic dept., has nothing to do with taxpayer or student tuition. PSU's athletic dept is entirely self-sufficient.

Maybe its time to start putting all that money the athletic department is raking in towards keeping tuition down....

Why is it that you never have anything decent to say about Penn State? Why do you go out of your way to stir up trouble?

I don't go out of my way....its just too easy. Some of us can see the bigger picture beyond football.

The fact the department is self-sufficient already makes the PSU athletic department a better deal than just about every other school. (Most schools lose money on athletics.)

If the school started taking more and more money from its football program to use on other things, the football program would decline and athletics would no longer be self-sufficient, which would cost the school more in the long run.

Mr. Yuk I think you're barking up the wrong tree. Paterno's salary was considerably less than those of other coaches at the same level, millions of dollars less and he did donate a lot of money to the school.

All of which arose because a gang of supposedly-high-minded, self-appointed and far-Left-leaning individuals turned Sandusky's wrongdoing into an attack on Penn State in general, within a few hours of the issue coming tto light.

And let's not forget all the fees for the litigators, who are clearly linked to only one side of the controversy.

I repeat: There is much more to this sordid story than has yet been brought to light, and the public has every right to know both the identity and motives of those who have attempted to stage-manage it from the first day,

Did you even read the story? Most of the money in question was money he'd already earned, or money agreed to in his contract as death or retirement benefits.
