Maybe 20+ years ago you had more racial problems ranging from western Bucks through Montgomery to the eastern edge of Berks. I'd say its decreased greatly as people settled down and learned to live with one another. I actually hear more racial incidents going on in Philly than anywhere else.

Boyertown does not really have a KKK presence anymore than anywhere else you look - that was years ago. The schools are actively getting the children involved in the NO PLACE FOR HATE program. My older children 16 & 12 tell me that they are not exposed to this at all and no one they know is like that. There are a lot of newer families moving in and the "old guard" is moving on to Florida or nursing homes.
Douglassville has Dan Boone school district which I have personal bad experience with - my step son goes there and they are awful.....

IlovetheBears, how are people's personalities in Boyertown? Is there a mixed bag or usually friendly? I guess I'm asking, do people still use their manners there, say if you hold a door for them, do they say thankyou, or just "expect" it of you? Thanks

I don't see any difference than anywhere else. People are people - you will find rude ones and nice ones everywhere. The town is changing and trying hard to though. On the main street people are friendly and smile at you - the shops decorate for holidays and the community stands behind their children.
I guess it depends on what you are looking for. If you have a preconceived idea that people in Btown are rude and one person brushes by you on the sidewalk - you're gonna think "yup - rude town..."
My husband and I were just talking about this - it's a clean, pretty town and surrounding area. You don't really have any real rundown sections.
