Any areas of PA that have little to no ticks?
I've been eyeballing NW PA(Mercer, Crawford, Erie, etc counties) and Somerset county area for a possible future move.

But I don't want to worry about ticks every time I take a walk in the woods, especially ticks that carry Lyme.

From W. PA, like those Lady Bugs, Stink Bugs... they seem heavy for a year or 2 then drop off. They seem heavy last year and this.

Here in Eastern PA Ive already removed 2 ticks.
I have a large garden and our property backs into a very large park.
It's obvious where they came from.

i could be an abberation, but I've never seen a tick in Erie or Crawford counties. Like I said though, I could be an abberation.

Go west! I hear you. I wonder if Somerset county is considered Western PA?

I've seen about 10 ticks this year in WNC- Asheville area, which is higher than normal. Ticks in my neck the woods are not know for carrying Lyme, but do carry Rock Mtn Fever, which is easier to deal with than Lyme.

Could be an aberration. From poking around the internet Presque Isle might carry a tick population. Probably brought in by people, or animals.

Hang around ducks and turkeys! Ever since the turkeys have made a comeback in my neighborhood; we have not had any ticks. We are also in the red zone. We do have one neighbor that religiously feeds the wild turkeys. Turkeys also drop by us to check for uneaten duck food - we have a dozen+ ducks.

Years ago before the turkeys and ducks; I could not walk between my pine trees and not get a tick.

Chickens are also great at taking a bite of the tick population - plus; you get great fertilizer for your garden, some fresh eggs and top that off with a drumstick or some breast meat.

Because of the warm winter; it would not surprise me if ticks and the West Nile virus do not plague us through the warmer months.

We live in Lehigh County and our family has a cabin in Northern Carbon county and ticks have been bad. We are pretty vigilant and luckily none have been found embedded, but we have pulled about 12 of them of me, the wife and kids. All had in carbon county, nothing so far in Lehigh. Luckily they have all been dog ticks and haven't had a deer tick yet.

On a side note, I've also noticed a ton more spiders this year.

Interesting advice. Thanks!
