We have 2 large hospitals, along with many outpatient facilities. Check the website wellspan.org for employment opportunities, pajobfinder.com or the local Sunday paper. As a nurse, you will not have a problem finding employment! The nearest radiology school is in Lancaster. From West York area it will be about a 35 mile commute, but will most likely take about an hour because of the traffic on Route 30. West York, Manchester Township (Central School District) and Springettsbury (either Suburban or Central School districts) all have summer and year round athletic programs for youngsters. T-ball, soccer, softball/baseball etc. Check the websites of any of the communities.

Jobs wise you might wanna also check out what lancaster area might offer. Unemployment is low, around 2-3% so there might be stuff there.

Hi..I don't know what to believe now about Hanvover, the last thing I read on here last week was that is was VERY racial and underground KKK..Maybe I read wrong but I'll look again. I am a white woman and wouldn't move there or to Central PA, near Perry County anyway due to the white trash ignorant rednecks there. They even hate their own race. Unless your are like them they hate you. It is a real shame. Shouldn't we all be worried about terrorists and not races anymore? I wish I could find a nice area in York or Adams that wasn't old homes and semi rural. I am having a hard time.

I am interested in moving in a new development in the West York area. I am a registered nurse, my husband is looking to go to radiology school so I have a couple of questions. How are jobs for nurses there and are there any radiology schools nearby? Also, my boys are really into sports. Does the community have sports programs like little league for instance and where could I find info on what's available.

There are plenty of developments in West York. If you dont have to travel on I 83 for work, then west york will do.
As for sports, well all you have to do is drive by the local highschool on Friday night for game night, they have people out to direct traffic. Football is pretty big in PA.
I know nothing of nursing jobs.
The first place to start looking is the York County Pa gov website. They should have llinks to sports programs and the like.

hi
I am new to city-data and I am not quite sure how to post my question? So I will write it here with the hopes you might be able to provide me with some helpful information.
We currently live in Bucks County, PA. My husband may take a position in York,PA and I work in Princeton, NJ. Does anyone know of a half way point between the two? We are both willing to commute 1 hour. We also have a child, so the location would have to have good schools. Thanks for your help.

Pawtucketp-
It's at least 2 1/2 hours (without traffic), road repairs, and traffic from York to Princeton, I drive it all the time, but not for a job. I drive fast, take the turnpike and go at non rush hour times. I don't think there is a 1/2 way point that would let you each commute 1 hour.

I have good memories of York from my childhood in the 60's, but I don't have a clue about it now. However, my cousins still live there so it can't be that bad. I visited my aunt in Dover three years ago. This seemed like a nice area to live in. Don't know about housing availability tho. Just a thought

I have an Asian daughter. Considering a job offer from Hanover. I am concerned about schools and racism. I am a bit concerned about the " redneck" comments about Hanover. Moving from southern Virginia and a very diverse area. Would like to keep commute to 20-25 minutes. I do some traveling so access to highways going to BWI would be an added feature.

There are a lot of great areas for you and your family. There could be some jobs for your husband but he would most likely have to commute for a higher pay rate although im not familiar with all of the social working facilities my father does work at one. As far as yourself this is a great area for your needs. I can think of one place that would probably be perfect for you it would be the east york area.

Really, asians are culturally accepted in Hanover. I know in high school we had some asians and no one really cared/noticed one way or the other. It's african americans that have the biggest issue, and to some degree hispanics too.
Where do you need to commute to?
