Default Port Allegany

I've been looking at a job offer in Port Allegany, PA. Does anyone know anything about that area of the state? Any advice on a good place for a 28 y.o., single guy to live would be helpful. Thanks

It is a very rural part of the state. it is near the new york border. it gets more snow and is colder than much of pa in the winter.
its on route 6 between coudersport and smethport. there is no large town/city in the area. the closest would be hamburg, new york, which is over an hour away.
house values are low, so you could probably find a house for under $100,000 easily.
if you're looking for a night life, its non existant.
i personally would love it there because i love rural areas with small towns and lots of outdoorsy stuff to do. i'm not a big fan of the hustle and bustle of living near larger towns and cities.
if you like to hunt, fish, ride quads and go hiking, then you'd have a great time there. if you like shopping, going out to eat, and going out to nightclubs, then you might be pretty miserable in northcentral PA.

I'm actually OK with a rural area. Thanks for the advice.

Are there any specific communities that you would recommend checking out?

Ditto....if you're an 'outdoorsman' then that's the area for you! There's really not much up that way. I drive through Port Allegheny about once a month and like it was said before, there's not much there. You better have an 'outdoorswoman'! If not, you better find one!
