Sanctions can include suspensions.
I am not a Paterno supporter. Supporting PSU and supporting Paterno are two different things.

What's to support? An administration that covered up heinous crimes for at least 14 years? An administration that was so lily-livered it couldn't get an elderly football coach who was losing games to retire in 2004?

And you say *I* am stuck on PSU Football?

I am supporting a university that has educated thousands of professionals. I am supporting an institution of learning that is about much more than football. I am supporting the idea of affordable higher education for all.

I am supporting Penn State University.

Is the administration not part of Penn State? Or are the professors just running the place themselves? My only mention of football was in regards to the admin's response to it. They all worshipped at that altar, way more than at any other university that I can think of, including the University of Nebraska.

Yes, it is part of Penn State. So are the vast majority of people who are completely innocent bystanders to this atrocity.

No one on this thread has ever suggested closing the university or otherwise punishing any students, faculty (unless they were involved in the scandal), or graduates. That doesn't mean we can't discuss the football culture at Penn State.

I read somewhere that on average a victim of an airline crash is "worth" 2-5 million and that's DEAD

Why should their LIVES be worth less?

That article is only speculation at this point. We know that our legal system does not always follow a predetermined path.

Because dead is dead and that payoff goes to the relatives who aren't.

Sandusky's/conspirators' victims have to live with the pain for many more decades.
