[sharon stone was born and raised in Seagertown, PA
Hello,
I am currently a Nurse Practitioner student and have been assigned as part of a community assessment to find out more about Meadville's notable residents and recreation in Meadville. I know Sharon Stone was born in Meadville, are there any other famous or notable residents (historical or otherwise)? Also, what does Meadville have to offer as far as recreation?
Thanks in advance for the info!![/quote]

Stone was born in Saegertown. I have yet to meet someone in Saegertown or Meadville that is proud of that fact. I'm not sure why that is. I don't know anything about her, so have no opinion on the matter.

Lots of history around Meadville. John Brown's Tannery is just outside of Meadville. George Washington, in the early 1750's, came up French Creek (he named the creek) to tell the French to get off British territory.

The people at the historical society on Chestnut St. in Meadville are very helpful, if you are in Meadville anytime soon.
