Check out the Nature Inn at Bald Eagle State Park in Howard, PA, about 3.5 hours from Chester. It is one of a kind, as it is actually a hotel located in a state park. Bald Eagle State Park offers any kind of outdoor recreational activity imaginable, with a beautiful lake that offers a nice beach, as well as boating and fishing, etc. Nearby is Bellefonte, which is definitely a cool historic town to stroll through. The Inn has gotten rave reviews, and it is very kid-friendly. The park itself has events going on just about everyday, including fun activities for kids.

The Great Wolf Lodge in Tannersville is nice for kids. It has an indoor water park and it built like a large log cabin lodge.
