There aren't enough posts about Erie to warrant a sub-forum. Probably not enough either to support a NW PA sub-forum.

I think there should only be 3 forums:

1) PA
2) Philly
3) Yinz

Erie only gets one if Lebanon gets one.

The whole "Harrisburg / York / Lancaster" thing has been hashed out again and again, through the correct channels, to no avail. The formal response from the mods / admins / whomever the last time I brought it up amounted to "thanks for the suggestion". No changes were made, and a lot of us regulars simply migrated away to other local forums.

If you can get the change made, more power to you.

Clevelander opinion: Yes Erie should have it's own!

Speaking as a Clevelander that just took a long weekend for my son's birthday... wanted to do something different... in-laws live in East Ohio so we said "hey! Meet you in Erie!". We had such a great time in Erie I wanted to come to the Erie forum and show some Erie love. But alas... no Erie forum.
I think Erie is a bit more of a tourist destination then some of the other cities y'all mention, not just for PA folks but us Ohioans, too. I have no desire to vacation in Lancaster, Harrisburg or... pretty much any other city you mentioned.... but we will go back to Erie! And our in-laws go a few times a year.
<3 Presque Isle. The indoor swim park was a blast.
Then the wife and I had dinner at "The Smuggler's Wharf" while the in-laws watched the kid. Gotta' admit we walked in and weren't very impressed by the decor. Thought about leaving. But we gave it a chance. WOW! We had the most fantastic meal. Steaks cooked to perfection, great "old bay" potatoes, and desert! YUM! Great service, too.
We will be back!!!

Thanks for a great time Erie!!!

Peregrine

That is a good point about the tourism in Erie and I also see many people from New York state and Ontario here on a regular basis. If you are back in Erie in the near future and looking for a good restaurant here are a few I recommend:

1) Peppino's Chop House- They are a little pricey, but have excellent Italian food and veal dishes.
2) 1201 Kitchen- Very pricey, but they have great sushi and Asian food.
3) BrewErie- Basic pub fare, but it is affordable and I have had some great meals here.
4) Three B's Saloon- The neighborhood is a little rough around the edges, but the barbecue is some of the best I have ever had.
5) Lucky Louie's Beer and Wieners- This is over near the casino and they have the best selection of beer I have ever seen. They also have very tasty and unique hot dogs. I tried the Chicago dog and it was amazing.

Thanks!! I will certainly be back! (And now I am thinking "why didn't I come here first? lol But no regrets. Dinner was so good.)

Re: Canadians in Erie. Met 4 older retired couples from Canada at our hotel. Told us they come to Erie every year. The men golf and the ladies shop. They were very nice and love Erie!

If NE PA does I don't understand why Erie does not.

Official population of Urbanization Areas
Philadelphia, PA--NJ--DE--MD 5,441,567
Pittsburgh, PA 1,733,853
Allentown, PA--NJ 664,651
Harrisburg, PA 444,474
Lancaster, PA 402,004
Scranton, PA 381,502
Reading, PA 266,254
York, PA 232,045
Erie, PA 196,611
Pottstown, PA 107,682
State College, PA 87,454

Which would make the Lancaster, Reading, York urban population almost a million people.

A humble suggestion would be to model the forum after the main tourist regions of the state.

Alleghenies and Susquehanna Valley

Erie Region

Pennsylvania Dutch Country

Pennsylvania Wilds

Philadelphia Region

Pittsburgh Region

Poconos and Endless Mountains
