Wellsboro is absolutely gorgeous!  My family and I visited Tioga County a few years ago to check out the Grand Canyon, and we fell in love with the nostalgic charm of the town---gas-lit streets, homes with large front porches, a diner, a town clock, a candy store---what's not to love?  I'm a city guy myself, and I would rather die than to live in such a tiny town way out in the middle of nowhere, but if you're looking for a nice place to relax, unwind, commune with nature, and make some great friendships, then Wellsboro seems to be Mayberry on all accounts. |

I agree that Wellsboro is beautiful. It would certainly be a quiet place to retire to. But it may be too quiet, depending on what you like to do.

Scranton is all the city I'll ever need. It has about 72,000 people. It also has a ski resort, waterfall, coal mine tour, national historic site, and two-story mall within the city limits. Nearby are minor-league baseball (Yankees), hockey (Penguins), and football (Pioneers). Scranton is just big enough to have everything I need within walking distance, yet it is still small enough to avoid the major problems experienced just to our south and east in Philadelphia, NYC, and NJ. I know it's a puny city, but it packs quite a wallop to me! |
