Default Unforgettable city

Hi, warm greetings from Indonesia, the country where Bali island is situated.

I passed Wellsboro with my wife last April. We drove from Buffalo, NY to Lancaster, PA and stopped by at this beautiful city. Among other things, its gas street lamps really impressed us. We hope that one day we will have a change to visit this city and the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania again.

Default I grew up in Wellsboro

I grew up in Wellsboro at the house directly across from the Main cemetery gate and as scary as that may sound, I loved it. The cemetery was beautiful and a great place to relax, exercise, and for my dog to chase rabbits in the evenings. I graduated from Wellsboro High in 1989 and I left town within 3 weeks to enter the Air Force. I am still in the Air Force and don't get back much now but I really miss the town and the atmosphere. Thank you so much for capturing in pictures some of the sights that I took for granted as a kid. I recognized every single angle of every picture on this thread. Thanks, MSgt Duane Baker

No, thank you for your valiant service to our nation. I'm very humbled to have been able to bring you some fond memories of your old hometown. Do you ever get back to visit Wellsboro?

I went on a 2 day road trip last month that included Wellsboro. I went as far west as Port Allegheny. Rt.6 is a biiker's dream. The stretch between Coudersport and Wellsboro is simply amazing. In my riding around the state I have noticed how well kept our rural roads are. Black tops look like it was put down just yesterday. I am adding my pictures I took at the PA Grand Canyon.

I've been out and about the past two days and the leaves are starting to kick in pretty good. I was in the canyon yesterday and it is probably going to be another week or two before we get good foliage there, but on Route 6 and 660 around Wellsboro there are a lot of brilliant colors. It looks like it's going to be a good fall for color this year. For anyone that plans on visiting Wellsboro the next 3-4 weeks should be pretty scenic.

Every few years I am able to come back to visit if I am in the US at that time. I miss living there and I wish that my children could grow up there just as I did but unfortunately the Air Force doesn't have any bases close by. I hope to go back in June 2009 for my 20 year class reunion.

I've been here every fall since 2004 and I think this year is the best for foliage I've seen so far. A lot of brilliant reds and oranges. I think the warm, dry days and cold nights we had for two weeks really helped. Anyone wont be disappointed if they head up this way.
