Thats mean saying outsiders arent wanted. You shouldnt say that whatsoever. Anyone can move here its the criminals that shouldnt be here. They need to go to jail.

Default An Outsiders Perspective

Having come from the Camden, NJ area I have to say that the crime here is not anything as bad as the bigger cities. The reasons these crimes are getting attention is because they don't happen often in York. But in cities like Baltimore and Philadelphia they are rather common, and only receive attention from the media when there is some important factor, or when police are looking for information via tipline.
That being said most of the crimes being committed like the murders and robberies are being committed by gangs, be they formally organized or just a bunch of teens. The problem can be solved with a rather simple Ideology: You are your brothers keeper.
Here in the United States we have a tendency to keep to ourselves and our circle of friends, but often that circle of friends does not include our neighbors. Understand that what happens to your neighbors and your neighborhood will impact you, even if it does take a while. If you see a crime being committed, even if you think you see a crime being committed, Tell Someone. Preferably the police. They have anonymous tiplines for a reason. Keep an eye out for your neighbor, make friends with them. Protect your community, protect your neighbors, protect yourself. Do that and the crime in York can and most likely will drop.

The notion that crime only happens in PA cities, and not in the suburbs, is false. Poverty is actually moving out from city centers into inner suburban areas, as the cities gentrify. There are exceptions, but this seems to be the general trend. Pittsburgh certainly has its share of crime-ridden suburbs.
