Default thoughts about westmoreland?

hey all Im going out this weekend to look at a house in Aliquippa any thoughts on the area? I like the fact thats its close to pittsburg but seems to be a sleepy town am I right? Im looking for an area like Shoholola was about 15 years ago - sleepy, nothing to do and cheap but I want everything a person could need within a 30 minute drive instead of a 45 minute drive

Default What is the story about Monessen?

First off, let me say I you all have been most generous in helping people like me who are giving serious consideration to moving into the area. This speaks very well of the kind of people who will eventually be my neighbors and I would like to say thanks to everyone here.

I need everyone to know that I've read through everything I was able to find on this forum about Monessen but haven't really got any idea what's going on there. I know it's not on Pimp's list of bad neighborhoods (thanks for that list, by the way) and while I understand Monessen has its share of difficulty the crime rate seems relatively low as are the property prices.

Please, if anyone can provide me with how they feel about Monessen I would appreciate it.

Again, thanks everyone!

I havent made it to Monessen yet but the crime rate according to what I find is a 4 which would include everything from Dui's and Domestic problems to voilante (sp?) crime with everything in between.

JerseyShel,

I started a follow up thread on the Pittsburgh section of this forum here. As someone else that was considering the area, I think you will find the feedback on that thread useful.

Good luck,

Ken
