minersville (Pottsville, Frackville: 2009, hotels, campers)

i will be making a trip to minersville in november. i will be visiting the federal prison there.hoping someone could tell me if any motels /hotels close to the prison.

I live in Florida but I am from a town not far from where you are going. In fact I know a guy that is the head cook at the place your going. I would stay off of 81 at Frackville. There is a Holiday Inn Express there and it's in the same parking lot of the Cracker barrel and the Schylkill mall. It's not far from the place that you will be. FYI, there is nothing to do there, but you will be going at a good time as the color is in it's peak right now as I am told from family back home. Have a safe trip.....

thanks fly free. using map quest and minersville searches. i thought it would be best to
get motel in francksville it is my understanding that francksville is close to minersville.not concerned about nothing to do since i will be spending most of my time at the prison.since that is the purpose of my trip.
looking forward of checking out the scenery hoping i am making trip early enough not to get into any winter weather.

This area is not as well kept as one might hope..in fact I struggle to use the word kept in the sentence..speaking of sentences,the only business that seems to be thriving here, is about the prison! No kidding.
It is sad and depressed in the surrounding areas as well.The jobs have gone away, far away.If you are coming from out of State get ready for culture shock.
The roads are narrow,the mindset is "we don't take to outsiders".And the potholes are so bad that I ended up at a garage with one heck of a bill!!!
Even bent the rim on my wheel!!...................you know youre in trouble when the mayor hung on to this election by the skin of his tooth.
I bought the local paper,and the classified was smaller than half a page!
..And half of those were for OUT OF STATE!!!!

MInersville is not as bad as Gretchen570 makes it out to be. Yes, the roads may be bad and the towns arn't thriving but there are a lot of old victorian buildings, historic churches, and very scenic mountains. Also, visit Pottsville.

You can just hangout with inmates who have left the camp at the FCI. They go to the local motels to get high and have sex with girlfriends.
