Chambersburg v.s. Hagerstown
I just recieved a job offer in Hagerstown, MD. I am fresh out of college and will be earning entry level pay. I have heard from some people that it is cheaper to live in PA rather that MD. Can anyone give me some insight on what is the best choice? I don't want to commute, and I think Hagerstown has a lot more going on for a 25 y.o. single guy...but I don't want to lose all of my money in taxes and utilities. Sooo, what are typical utility prices for one bedroom apartment in both locations? Rent differences? TAXES? (especially)...including sales tax, wage tax etc. How about car insurance price differences? I also heard something about a one time 5% Blue Book value fee for bringing an out of state car into MD?? I spent a few nights in Chambersburg interviewing...and I didn't get a real good feel about the place. Granted I was downtown...but still...I need there to be more going on than a Texas Hot Dog Restaurant. I have read some other threads about both places...and I don't care about Hagerstown's urban sprawl...I want to be in a place that is growing...and I'm not buying a house, so it doesn't affect me much. So, in conclusion...I need some sound advice. Can anyone help?!?!?
