showing PA in general some "LOVE"
ok guys here we go this is why I hate Pa:
last monday night / Tues morning around 2 am I had a blow out along side rt 80 I drove about 1/2 a mile till I saw a mile marker 'cause I had no idea where I was I had no jack but had a spare so I called my roadside co and they found me a towing company. the guy knew right where I was even though I didnt and was there in 15 mins, I was so happy to have the help I handed him the last cash in my pocket (thank god for atm cards) and told him to get a cup of coffee on me. he was happy for the tip how dare him? I mean really to be on the side of rt 80 at that hour and appreciate the fact that I was glad he could help the nerve I mean really shouldnt he have called me cheap cause it was only a $5 and not more? instead he thanked me and told me where I could get a good cup of coffee -- really what was he thinking?????
this past Sat we were once agian in Pottsville looking at a house and got hungery so we found a small dive type sandwhich shop - I've found they always have the best subs. I remarked that I had never seen a sandwhich made the way mine were - the guy offered to remake my sub. I thanked him and said no it was just that I was used to more filler (lettuce & onion) and less meat, also most places Ive been put the filler on top and the meat on the bottom and he smiled at me and said he thought for the price he chargd (a whole $5.25 instead of the $9.95 Im used to) he better make a good sandwhich - umm shouldnt he have waited till I turned my back and dropped my food on the floor and then spit in it or something???
ok ok so I really don't hate pa and I was impressed by the sandwhich shop and wish it was closer to me. and it was nice to have a smiling face as I was sitting there stuck and the fact that he was thankful for the tip instead of upset that it wasn't more threw me 'cause Im so used to people here

Well, it doesn't make much sense. It rambles, contradicts itself, lacks punctuation and capitalization - overall very difficult to read and not really worth the effort. If it were better written I'm sure the humor would be more appreciated. But that's just my opinion. I'm a bit of a grammar/punctuation snob when it comes to the written word. I'd never make it in the text messaging world.

JerseyShel: I think it's great that you can appreciate the little things in life. It's a shame there aren't more people like you that want to call PA home.

I get it and it's good to know that you were abe to experience, first hand, how good and decent some PA natives can be. It's hard to recognize the "good" sometimes when the bad points are publicized so much more. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Jersyshel, I can relate to that. You know I have run otta gas and been on the side of the road pouring gas in my car and people actually stopped to see if I needed help.
What a concept! LOL

If you are trying to equate costs based on where you have been living, you're in for a very pleasant surprise. While some things can be more expensive (things have to be transported farther in many cases than you are used to) most businesses tend to be more service oriented and a little less greedy. This has a lot to do with staying in business, keeping more of a smaller pool of customers than where you currently live as well as the costs to run a business is significantly less in the areas you are looking in.
As to the friendliness you mention, when we first moved down this way (from northern Vermont) we had a tough time adjusting to how friendly many people were to us. At first we were a little taken aback, we honestly hadn't experienced anything like it before but I can say it is refreshing.
And yes, the written word can be difficult to convey humor but I would suggest that Dawne get some new batteries for her sarcasm detector.

Ditto. I text message like there's no tomorrow, but, as expected, I use commas, capital letters, appropriate punctuation, etc. I take twice as long to text as my peers do, but I feel more accomplished to know that I didn't take any "shortcuts."
Then again, I think you sarcasm detector must also be burning low. LOL! I understood that this post was referencing how much more friendly the people she came across in PA were than they are in NJ. Considering I spend a lot of time in both state forums, I can agree. Most on the NJ forum are nasty to one another, whereas very few on here (outside of the Scranton political arguments) are out-of-line.
