Default westmoreland county

Can anybody give me information on Westmoreland County?, Any info on economy, jobs, schools, education, housing, cost of living, things to do, and crime would be most appreciated. Any other info is great too. Thanks!

Default Let me see...

I live in the county right next door, so let me give this my best shot and hope it sheds some light on the situation.

Westmoreland is a pretty large county. The western part is right against Allegheny County and closest to Pittsburgh. Hence, the towns/cities that way have more of an influence from Pittsburgh. The eastern part is more rural as it's up against the Laurel Ridge of the Appalachians. Smaller, quieter towns.

There's Greensburg, the county seat and one of the larger cities. There's Latrobe home of St. Francis University. Ligonier has Idlewild Park and it's a quaint town with Fort Ligonier and many antique shops. The schools in Ligonier and Latrobe are good.

Economy seems decent. There's lots of retail along Rte. 30. There's positions from white collar to manufacturing to farming.

It's kind of hard to describe the entire county. Could you narrow down the areas you're looking at?
