Default Help w/ Harrisburg Area Please

I've accepted a job transfer to the Harrisburg area in January. I'll be alternating days b/w Camp Hill, Harrisburg and York at first, w/ final destination of Harrisburg. Any thoughts on a nice place to live? I've heard poor things about York. No kids yet, but would like a good district. Would also like a little space when buying a home (at least 1/2 acre), but don't want to live in the boon-docks. Looking in the 250-300 range. Philadelphia guy by way of Florida. Any/all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You should be able to find what you want in East Pennsboro, Hampden, Silver Spring or Upper Allen township. All are a part of good school districts and not boon docks. All of those areas would put you at a 15-25 minute commute to Harrisburg.

Camp Hill itself is a great location with good school district (plus minutes to Harrisburg) but the houses are close together. I still recommend looking here though.

You're not gonna find anything in that range, not even living in the ghetto. The best you'll find is anywhere from $400-$500 in the Harrisburg area

Here's a simple search on realtor.com in the 17050 zipcode:
17050, Real Estate Listings and 17050 Homes for Sale - Realtor.com

No ghetto there.

Thanks. I've been able to find lots of homes in my range, just haven't known where the heck they are. I appreciate all the help.

The west shore is the nicer area. Be careful in York- in terms of buying. The town has a huge riff between conservatives and liberals. Not a place to sink any serious cash, IMO.
