I may be accepting a position with the City of Philadelphia where there is a residency requirement that you have to live within the city. I have a house in NC that I'll probably rent out and will be living in an apartment in Philadelphia until I can get more familiar with the area. So if anyone can give me some information on some nice apartments, townhomes and neighborhoods, that would be greatly appreciated.

To give some more background, I have a daughter in college who will be living with me during the summers and back on campus in the fall. I'm a divorced woman and I lived in NYC for eight years, so I'm familiar with the city life and coming from Raleigh, which is very slow and is a nice area but is more for young families, the urban setting does appeal to me at this time. Thanks for your help!!

Somone just advertised a home for rent in the classified forum, 3br in a very nice section of Phila (the main line). I believe the price was $1200/mo.

What part of the city will you be working in and how much will you be able to pay in rent? If you can afford it I strongly suggest you live in center city. It is where most of the action is if you want real city living. If you can get by without a car, that's even better. If you need a car on an occasional basis, look into PhillyCarShare.
