Nice places to live in York County?
I am moving to York, from Lancaster for a new job. I hate leaving Lancaster, it is so beautiful. Where is a nice place to live in York County? I'm thinking woods, rivers, quaintness, rolling farms, etc.... Does anyone know?
Thanks,
Sc

My familiy and I are moving into the area and we decided to settle in New Oxford. Seems like a nice area. Rivers are near by lots of country around and close to all amenities.

I'd say go to hanover. There's a large lake nearby that has a 'beach' of sorts, pools, boating, etc. Not to mention the usual south central creek-a-palooza

I've lived in York County since 1967 except for 3 years. Big thing, live where you work. For example, live on the east side of York if you work in the east side, likewise, north, south, west. Crossing town in any direction is not nice at rush hour - it is far better than it was but not great.
If you give me an idea where you are working, general area, I can probably tell you where to look. I live in the west end, Shiloh area, that is between dover and the city, i am just off 74, I work near the intersection of 15 and Rossmoyne rd near Camp Hill. I have three basic routes that take 35 minutes, only about 10 longer than I had to Caterpillar on the east end. My current commute is 24.5 miles, Caterpillar was 8.

If you have kids, you should check out the school rankings. Most of York County is the same, with the exception of York City.
There are more rural areas the further you get away from the city, except for the NE of the county which is en route to Harrisburg and all along I 83 is suburbs.
The Southern portion of york is still quaint but expensive to live in.
Dallastown, Red Lion, Yoe are all nice places to live.
