psugrl24 is on a distinguished road
I currently live in Duncansville and I would definitely recommend it to anyone with a family. The school district is wonderful, but not too big like Altoona's school district. There are many young families in my neighborhood. I haven't heard of any crime-related problems in Duncansville. D-ville is less than 10 minutes away from the shopping centers in Altoona, which is great. From what I've noticed, many of the houses in the Penn Farms area (where I live) have been built in the past 30 years. The only downside I really see is that if you're looking for a nice backyard you'll have fewer options. Most of Duncansville was built on hills and many backyards have a considerable slope to them. Good luck with making a decision!
