Default York area public or private schools

I'll be relocating from Norman, Oklahoma to the York, PA area to work at York Hospital. I'll be bringing my daughter, who will be starting her Junior year of high school. Where is a good SAFE place to live that will also provide a good school for her? She is a social butterfly! She really needs school as a social outlet. I don't mind comuting to work. I just need for her to be happy. Any suggestions?

I was born and raised here in York...I'd stay out of the city and look in the suburbs. As far as schools go, I'd look in either the Central School District or the Dallastown School District. There's not a whole lot to do here, but there's more than some small towns and its close to a lot of things to do. We're definitely a mix bunch. There's all the problems in York that are in big cities like Philly, so as I said, DEFINITELY look in the suburbs. I love living and working here. The people that say the only thing here is the college haven't really looked around much.

Anybody knows avoid York City, DO NOT move to the city. I use to work in the city years and years ago, like 1995 and I would hear gunshots while inside my building working and that was 13 years ago. I am sure its worse, that was near Beaver St, York College area. I would stay south of the city or North, south is beautiful if you stay rural.
