Actually, there isn't a smoking age there, nor a drinking age.

We are probably 1000 years away from the more perfect system.

Try 10,000. PA is far behind the rest of the Northeast in many progressive issues. I think Maine might be the only state we're on an even keel with in this regard, and that's sad considering we have the second-highest population in the Northeast while they have amongst the lowest.

SWB...what state or states if any do you consider to be truly progressive? From my experience in PA, I would have to agree that PA is certainly not one of them. Again, based on my experience, California seems to be the most progressive, but it is still a land of many problems. My current state of Colorado I would rank as fair to middling as far as being progressive compared to PA. What's your opinion about Colorado Pittnurse?

Of the states where I have lived, Coloradois the most "progressive", especially in terms of open government. Of course, that compares CO with some fairly corrupt northeastern states, PA and NY, and in the midwest, Illinois. Three former Illinois governors in my adulthood (admittedly getting longer all the time) have gone to jail, a Democrat (Otto Kerner), a Repubican (George (?) Ryan), and an independent (Dan Walker). I only lived in Cali a short while and Ronald Reagan was governor at the time. Colorado was the first state to enact "sunshine" laws requiring more public access to elected officials. It was the first state to legalize abortion in the early 70s. It has its problems, too. There was the anti-gay rights amendment to the constitution passed in the 90s, which was struck down by the US Supreme Court. So yeah, fair to middling is probably a good assessment.

You're right. How ridiculous is this old cigarette ad?

This is a great add. I could not remember where my old Lifes were. Bravo to you.
