Default Lewisburg Newspapers/Banks/Home Builders

What newspapers service Lewisburgers? I was thinking of running an ad to buy a home/lot in/near downtown Lewisburg because there is so little on the market and I need to relocate for a new job. Also, any suggestions for good local banks? Also, any feedback on Fogarty homes? Are they well built? Thanks for any info

Two newspapers serve Lewisburg.

News - Milton, PA - The Standard-Journal

The Daily Item, Sunbury, PA - Homepage

As far as Fogarty homes, they were very well built. The last time I was in a model home was about 20 years ago and I was impressed with the quality. I heard a rumor that Fogarty retired, moved to Florida and sold the business to someone else. I don't know how true it is though and I don't know what the quality is like now.

Every time I'm in Lewisburg I'm amazed by the number of For Sale signs I see. I think there's a lot on the market right now. What price range and home style are you looking for? Have you checked out any realtor websites?

As far as banks, we use Swineford National, which has a new office near Country Cupboard and the Super Wal-Mart area. Other reputable banks are Mifflinburg Bank and Trust, Northumberland National Bank, Omega Bank, Sovereign Bank - actually any bank in the area is a good one. It just depends on what particular services you're looking for and if you want a "hometown bank" or a more statewide "chain" bank.

Other stick-built home builders include Fine Line Homes. There are also many modular homes of good quality built locally, including Ritz-Craft in Mifflinburg and Excel Homes near the southern Snyder County line on Route 15 (between Port Trevorton and Liverpool).

Default Lewisburg Real Estate

I have been scouring several realtor web sites, have a realtor, no buyers agreement yet, only went out once, the problem is location, I want to be within walking distance to downtown Lewisburg, the properties are far and few between, the surrounding developments are loaded with "for sale" signs but we want to live downtown/near town/near Bucknell. We like the Fogarty development on the hill but it looks sold out. Can't get a response from Fogarty. Assuming more homes will come on the market in the next 60 days. Thanks for the leads on the banks. I want to get my mortgage business in line so I can move quickly when the right house comes along. Can afford up to 350K, want 2 story.

Try to stay away from South 6th, 7th, 8th and St Louis Street. You'll never get any sleep. Those areas are where most of off-campus parties occur. The north side and of town is the most quiet. Also South Water, Front and, Second Streets, but much of that area is in the flood plain. Ask to see a flood plain map before you decide to buy in a certain areas.

There are a number of homes for sale on the west side of Route 15 and south side of Route 45, in the stretch between the high school and the middle school, definitely withing walking distance of downtown, but having to cross Route 15 to get there.
