Default Reading (suburbs)- Possible Move

I know that someone has a thread posted already about Reading, but I was hoping to find out a little more about the surrounding areas. I may be moving to the Reading area soon from Exton, PA for a new job.

Would anyone have any suggestions for the best towns to live (outside the city of Reading) in regards to shopping, access to roads, schools etc...

Just a little about me...I am 27, recently married (June 07) with no children and we are looking to buy our first home. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,
Your best bet east of Reading is Exeter Township. The schools here are good and very safe. Do a property search with the 19606 area code. There are a lot of nice homes for sale. You have access to the main roads(road the 422). Also, being on that side of town makes it much quicker for trips back to Exton if need be. Also, King of Prussia is 40 minutes. If you go a little further east there is Douglassville and Amity. I do not have much to say about them, as I do not live there, but your commute time into Reading would be longer. Good luck, and let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thank you hc7612. I had a feeling Exeter was my best bet, but hearing it from you makes me more confident in my research. I also have looked at Douglassville, but have not come across as much information on the town as I have the Exeter area. Thanks again. I will be sure to post any follow up questions.

Exeter is the best if you are considering South of Reading. Just West of Reading are great suburbs, like Wyomissing, West Lawn, and Sinking Spring - great places to live for young couples. These places have much more shopping venues and activity than Exeter. It's a rapidly growing area.
