Which cities in PA have a ton of New York City transplants? I've heard the Lehigh Valley as well as Lancaster, and Scranton-Wilkes Barre. Which one seems to draw the most new yorkers. any others?

I'd think philadelphia but scranton or lehigh would be higher proportions versus absolute numbers.

Pike, Monroe and Wayne Counties have the most NYC part year residents and transplants. The cities with the most New York State and City transplants are in Florida.

Percentage-wise: Pike County, Monroe County, Wayne County (i.e. essentially the Poconos)

Absolute numbers-wise: Philadelphia area, Lehigh Valley (Allentown/Bethlehem/Easton area), Monroe County, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area

what about Lancaster. is this a big area for New York transplants? Or how is this county growing so quickly?

Outer outer outer fringe and that's really pushing it.

People commute to the jobs along the turnpike as well as the city via train.

Lancaster County still will have a substantial natural increase. It appears from 2005 to 2009 there was only about a 3,000 net inward migration. http://pasdc.hbg.psu.edu/sdc/pasdc_f...gration_RB.pdf In 2008 and 2009 natural increase exceeded net migration substantially. http://pasdc.hbg.psu.edu/sdc/pasdc_f...Chg_08to09.xls

I've seen people from Martinsburg West Virginia commute to Harrisburg for work before but I would hardly consider Martinsburg an outer fringe of Harrisburg-Carlisle Metro. Lancaster is pretty far from Philly and I would never consider it part of the philly metro. York and Lancaster would merge into one metro seeing as how they are much closer to each other before Lancaster would be part of the Philly metro.
